Romanii si munca in Regatul Unit. Sfaturi!

munca in LondraToata lumea, pe toate canalele, pe toate retele de socializare discuta despre dreptul romanilor de a munci in Regatul Unit (Marea Britanie, Scotia, Irlanda).

Hai sa fim putin practici.

Sa lasam politicienii sa-si bata gura, sa-si castige voturile, sa fie injurati sau sa se injure, sa-i lasam pe agitatorii care au impanzit retelele de socializare cu tot felul de petitii, presa care “spala la varza” fara logica.  Acum scrie un articol in care acuza ca englezii sunt rasisti, discriminatori, ca a doua zi sa prezinte avantajele emigrarii, joburile pe care le ofera romanilor si cum piata joburilor pentru romani se largeste si ca UK ii asteapta cu bratele deschise. Va suna cunoscut? ohh yes!

Sa fim practici este cea mai buna solutie.

Eu sunt aproape de nevoile voastre si inteleg foarte bine ce este in sufletul fiecaruia, care face un pas atat de mare pentru viata lui. Sunt una bucata de romanca plecata din Romania in urma cu 4 ani, care a spalat WC-uri in puburi, am strans mucuri de tigari in fata pub-urilor, am lucrat pentru englezi,  am facut cursuri, iar momentan sunt cea mai buna student din clasa mea, in conditiile in care engleza  este second language, iar studiile medicale  pe care le fac acum nu sunt usoare deloc. Despre Universitatile englezesti o sa va povestesc detaliat intr-un alt articol.  Englezii pentru care am lucrat intotdeauna mi-au dat referinte bune, m-au apreciat, tin legatura cu ei. Nu spun ca este simplu. Pentru ca nu este si nu are cum sa fie.

Venim intr-o tara cu legi pe care nu le cunoastem, cu oameni diferiti, cultura diferita. Venim in urma unor conflicte politice, diplomatice, venim in urma unor conationali care sunt cautati international pentru fraude, prostitutie, trafic de droguri, trafic de carne vie, care au ocupat abuziv casele englezilor in timp ce acestia erau plecati in concedii, care si-au facut castele prin Romania cu lirele sustrase in Londra si lista o puteti continua si voi.

Trebuie sa facem fata acestor probleme si multor altele.

Da si eu ca si alti romani am luat teapa de la landlord, nu am fost chemata la interviu, m-am balbait cand am ajuns la intreviu, am plecat de acolo constienta fiind ca nu sunt la nivelul pe care ei il cautau  etc. Si eu daca as fi in pozitia de a angaja as fi la fel de stricta si as dori angajatul cel mai bun. Si tu la fel ai face, nu-i asa?  Lipsa de experienta.. dar totul se invata.

Sincer va spun ca nu este simplu sa faci un CV profesionist. Am scris zeci pana am ajuns sa-l fac pe cel bun. Am repetat in oglinda, tinuta, dialogul, atitudinea. Nu, nu rade. Toate astea sunt tehnici 😉

Nu vreau sa fiti mintit, nu vreau sa fiti descurajati, nu vreau sa plecati cu stangul pe un drum care este greu si nu va mint. Este un drum al naibii de greu. Aveti nevoie de putere fizica, mentala, morala, spirituala si foarte multa determinare si mai ales motivatie.

Motivatia nu trebuie sa va dispara nici macar o secunda din minte.

De ce ai ales sa vii in UK?  Sau oriunde alta tara. Daca stii de ce.. chiar si cand vei fi in genunchi, umilit, cu ochii plin de lacrimi si spatele cocosat de durere,  vei ridica ochii, te vei ridica in picioare, vei strange pumnii si vei merge hotarat mai departe.

Eu asa am facut. Poti sa o faci si TU!

Unii sunt mai norocosi, altii sunt mai descurcareti, altii sunt ajutati. Nu exista o reteta minune. Daca as fi stiut-o, as fi folosit-o si eu.

Sa discutam putin despre acest discutat drept la munca in UK. Primesc multe mesaje legata de acesta dilema. Se ridica sau nu se ridica, restrictia pentru romani si bulgari?

Drept la munca insemnand ce? Romanii din UK lucreaza. Legea nu a interzis niciodata ca romanii sa munceasca in UK. Sunt mii de romani care au firme, au restaurante, magazine sau lucreaza in companii de IT , avocati, contabili, brokeri, bucatari, medici, electricieni, constructori, in cleaning, hotele, restaurante, peste tot. Suntem peste 1000000 de romani in Regatul Unit. Chiar nu lucreaza nici unul aici? nu studiaza nici unul?  Un avocat are tarif plecand de la 100 de lire pe ora, un GP 50 de lire pe o jumate de ora sau 300 de lire pe ora  un psihiatru. Cunosc cateva persoane care au functii foarte importante si cu mare responsabilitate. Ai dreptul sa-ti faci o firma, sa fii self employed, sa inveti ca  student si sa lucrezi. Da, este adevarat nu poti fi angajat (decat daca dovedesti ca esti student). Probabil se va ridica si acesta restrictie de la 1 ianuarie 2014. Intrebarea este daca noi suntem pregatiti sa accesam joburile lor, cele la care ravnim.

Stim sa facem un CV, o scrisoare de intentie, stim sa ne prezentam la un interviu, vorbim bine lb engleza, spellingul nostru este bun?

Vreau sa lucrez ca secretara la o firma de avocatura.” Foarte frumos

Asta trebuie sa fie prima intrebare.

Cunosti limba engleza, scris, vorbit, citit? Te simti discriminat daca angajatorul care primeste pe zi 100 de CV-uri te respinge pentru ca CV-ul tau este plin de greseli?

Te simti discriminat (a) daca esti chemat la interviu, nu  esti sigur pe tine, coerent in a le da raspunsurile la intrebarile pe care ti le pun?

Stii sa-ti vinzi calitatile, profesionalismul?

Esti capabil sa iesi in fata celorlalti 500- 1000 de aplicanti ?

Esti capabil sa atragi atentia angajatorului asupra ta?

Daca da, sigur vei gasi jobul pe care ti-l doresti.

Sunt multi romani care lucreaza ca medici, profesori, avocati sau in banci in Regatul Unit.

Pot spune ei cumva ca sunt discriminati? Ce ar trebui sa spuna englezul care nu a fost angajat, pentru ca un medic roman a fost angajat?

Angajatorul vrea cei mai buni oameni: indiferent ca sunt indieni, arabi, chinezi, englezi, romani sau polonezi.

Dar acum depinde pentru ce fel de job aplici.

Ce vrea in prima faza angajatorul de la tine?

Pentru ca acum vorbim despre liberalizare pietii muncii in UK si dorinta noastra de a accesa joburi unde sa fim angajati. Pentru ca nu dorim firma, nu dorim sa fim self employed, ci dorim pur si simplu sa fim angajati la: primarie, servicii sociale, birou de avocatura, imobiliare, profesori , companii internationale etc. Unii chiar lucreaza si acum, in conditiile in care restrictiile inca exista. De ce? Pentru ca anagajatorul a fost constient ca persoanele respective sunt ceea ce ai au nevoie si atunci au facut ei toate demersurile necesare.

Ce trebuie sa faci:

  1. CV-ul in engleza sa fie profesionist, sa prezinti abilitatile, calitatile tale care sunt perfecte pentru jobul pe care il doresti, pregatirea pe care o ai, studii facute, alte joburi pe care le-ai avut. Fara greseli gramaticale. Prima propozitie sa iasa in evidenta si sa-i determine pe angajatori sa te selectioneze pentru interviu. Arata-le ca le pui la dispozitie referinte in cazul  in care acestia vor dori informatii de la fostele locuri de munca.
  2. CV-ul trebuie sa fie insotit de Cover letter. Aici nu trebuie sa redai ce ai scris in CV ci sa scoti in evidenta ce vei aduce tu pozitiv in compania respectiva, motivatia ta, dorintele tale legata de companie si jobul respectiv.
  3. La interviu prezinta-te cu o tinuta office. Curat, spalat, ingrijit. Zambeste tot timpul, fii pregatit si tu sa pui intrebari la sfarsit. Fa un research legat de compania respectiva , pentru a te informa si  a fi pregatit pentru posibilele intrebari.
  4. Demontreaza ca esti un adevarat profesionist. Demonstreaza-le ca fara tine, firma lor nu poate merge mai departe. Ca TU esti omul de care ei au disperata nevoie. Pentru ca este o realitate. Piata muncii cu oameni calificati este foarta slaba.
  5. Nu mai apelati la diferite persoane dubioase care va cer bani, va promit joburi, dar nu va asigura nimic. Nu apelati la straini sa va ajute. Multi romani care sunt de ani de zile in Londra, in special, profita de lipsa voastra de experienta.

Pentru cei care vor sa le citesc si sa le verific CV-urile ( nu conteaza ca sunt in Londra sau Romania) pot sa-mi trimita fie mesaj pe FaceBook, pe site sau email la [email protected] sau [email protected]

In limita timpului voi raspunde tuturor intrebarilor primite, asa cum am facut si pana acum.

In curand voi face cateva materiale speciale pentru realizarea profesionista a unui CV, scrisoare de intentie si cum sa ne prezentam la interviu pentru a pleca de acolo cu jobul “in mana””

Investeste in tine. Investeste in educatia ta.

Competitia este din ce in ce mai acerba pe piata muncii. Asa ca primul contact care se face cu posibilul angajator este CV si scrisoarea de intentie.

If you are serious about your job search youwill need an up to date CV which you can send out to prospective employers and companies at a moment’s notice.

A CV is your passport to getting your foot in the door. It provides a platform upon which you can display your skills and highlight your achievements. A well presented CV should get you through to the next stage – the interview!

General Rules of a CV

  • Keep it concise and to the point (two sides of A4 paper maximum).
  • Make sure that your personal contact details are at the top and clearly visible.
  • Begin with your personal profile – a few lines about yourself, experience and skills.
  • Bullet point your key skills for example – “Excellent communication and organisational skills”.
  • Begin your work history section with the most recent job you have worked in.
  • If you have limited work experience, highlight any voluntary work that you have undertaken.
  • List your most recent qualifications first.
    • Include a short section on your leisure interests and hobbies, towards the end.
    • It is always a good idea to end your CV with the line: “References can be made available upon request”, rather than displaying the personal details of your referee.
    • Generally CVs are printed in black ink on white paper.

Some employers will request a CV to be accompanied by a covering letter. Overleaf you will find different layouts for a CV and covering letter.

Once you have chosen your preferred layout, keep your CV and covering letter on file and always have a few printed out for instant access. Many employers ask for CVs to be sent electronically but some still ask for them to be sent through the postal system.

PROBLEM SOLVING Team player

If you have been out of the labour market for some time you may feel that you don’t have many skills or qualifications to add to your CV. If this is the case make sure you add any experience or skills that you have gained either as a parent/carer of a child or as a volunteer.

Tips on writing covering letters

  • Covering letters should be written on one page only
  • You might find it useful to type up a draft first
  • Always check grammar, spelling and punctuation
  • Get someone else to read through the letter if you’re not confident about your spelling or writing skills
  • Use good quality paper
  • If you start Dear Sir or Madam – end with “Yours faithfully”
  • If you start with the name of the person you are writing to – end with “Yours sincerely”

You may need to send your CV and covering letter out to a number of prospective employers before you get a positive response. Try not to get despondent it may take some time before your CV gets to the right person and that is matched to a suitable vacancy. There is no harm in contacting the prospective employer to check that they have received your CV.

Application forms

 

Some companies will require you to fill out an application form instead of sending in a CV. If so, follow the steps below to make sure that your application form stands out from the rest.

A good application form should convince a prospective employer that you are worth inviting to an interview.

Filling in an application form can be daunting and deciding what to put in and what to leave out can be difficult. Remember the application as a marketing tool to promote your strengths and experience.

What does a ‘typical’ application form look like?

Whilst there is no such thing as a typical application form, most of them ask for the same type of information. The application form should be tailored to the specific job.

There will be some standard information required but there will probably also be a section where the applicant is asked to describe themselves and their experience.

Standard information includes personal details, qualifications, work history, leisure interests and referees.

The Personal Statement is the place on the form where you can explain, in your own words, why you are suitable for the job. This section is the most important, and most difficult, part of the form to complete. In this section it is vital that you address each point on the “person specification” in chronological order.

Tips and hints on completing an application form and writing a personal statement:

  • Before starting to fill in the application form
    • Find out about the job and the employer
    • Allow plenty of time – set a personal deadline of a day or two earlier than the actual deadline
    • Read through the application form and all accompanying documents, particularly the job description and person specification
    • Highlight key words, activities or skill areas that might need to be addressed
    • For each criteria on the personal specification (Person Spec) make a note of examples that demonstrate your competence in these areas
    • Include other areas of competence that haven’t been asked for but may be relevant.

 

When completing the application form

  • Look at the person specification (person spec.) and/or short-listing criteria and make sure all of these have been addressed
  • Give relevant and specific examples e.g. if applying for a job as a teaching assistant don’t just say ‘I think I would be good at this job’ but give examples of working with children or helping people to learn
  • Keep answers brief but comprehensive
  • Most employers expect application forms to be typed rather than handwritten.

Once the application form has been drafted

  • Get someone else to read it through – preferably someone who knows you
  • Check spelling, grammar and punctuation very carefully and make sure you use the spell check function
  • Check that all areas of the Job Description and Person Spec, have been addressed
  • Set aside the personal statement for a day or two and go back to it. Most electronic forms have

a “save” function so that you can return to an incomplete form and add to it at a later date

  • Some electronic forms need to be completed in one go, so be aware of this and check the application procedures before you begin to fill out the form.

The Next Stage – the interview

Interview types

1.Telephone interview – this type of interview is becoming more popular particularly for large retailers who use this as a first round interview stage.

2           Taking a test – some employers will ask you to take a test which they will send to you or ask you to come in and complete. This method is sometimes used by the Civil Service or large employers who may expect you to have attained a certain level in English and Maths or customer service.

3            Face to face interview – this is still the most frequently used type of interview method and you may be interviewed by one person or a panel of people. Depending on the job, you may be asked to give a presentation on a topic which the employer generally has provided information on in advance.

4            Group interview – you may be asked to attend an interview with other prospective candidates. Once at the interview they may ask you to work together to complete a task. The interviewer will be looking to see if you initiate ideas, if you are a leader, if you can follow instructions and how well you work in a group.

5,The second interview – sometimes companies may call you back to a more in-depth interview when they have prepared a short list of candidates from the initial inteview stage
